Sinclair strike gives Addicks victory

Dean Sinclair scored from a rebound

A second half goal from Dean Sinclair gave Charlton a 1-0 victory at Ryman League, Premier Division newcomers Dover Athletic on Wednesday night.

The Addicks fielded more-or-less a reserve side in front of a crowd of 1,521 at the Perrys Crabble Stadium, and they secured victory with 61 minutes gone when Sam Long forced a fine save from Whites' keeper John Whitehouse, but Sinclair was on hand to force home the rebound.

Whitehouse was the star of the show in the second half, making a series of fine saves to prevent Charlton from winning by a bigger margin.

But Andy Hessenthaler's side again showed plenty of potential for the coming season, especially in the first half when they more than matched the Championship outfit with their neat passing football.
