Dover are still searching for the first away win of their Vanarama National League campaign after a goalless draw against Southport at the Merseyrail Community Stadium on Saturday.

The point, from what was Whites fourth draw of the season, sees boss Chris Kinnear's side remain seventh and extend their unbeaten run to seven.

Both fixtures between the clubs ended in draws last season, but Whites had enough chances to ensure that didn't happen this time around, especially in the second half.

Kinnear named an unchanged starting line-up to the one which beat Boreham Wood 2-1 on Monday and it wasn't long before the first opportunity of the game came Dover's way.

Sean Raggett headed Tyrone Sterling's cross over in just the third minute.

Twenty minutes later, Ricky Miller hit the bar with a 25-yard effort and that proved to be a close as Kinnear's side came to scoring in a half of very few chances for either side.

Aswad Thomas came on for his debut six minutes after the break, replacing Sterling, who had been booked just before half-time.

Miller had a shot deflected for corner which resulted in Liam Bellamy heading over.

Raggett went close to breaking the stalemate when saw his header from Nicky Deverdics' corner cleared off the line in the 61st minute.

Dover were bossing the game now but they still had nothing to show for it as Stefan Payne's 18-yarder went wide before Jack Parkinson headed Bellamy's cross over.

Payne's last contribution before being subbed saw another shot go wide 13 minutes from time before Deverdics, this season's joint leading scorer with two, went close with curling effort.

Bellamy and Deverdics also saw late efforts go wide as Dover pushed in hope of finding a winner but it never came.
