Dover moved five places up to fifth after Stefan Payne scored twice in the 2-0 win against Woking in the Vanarama National League clash at Crabble on Friday.

Payne struck in either half as Whites extended their unbeaten run to four games after two consecutive wins.

The game started at a frantic pace and it was only seconds old when Dover goalkeeper Mitch Walker collected Craig Braham-Barrett's low cross with former Dover loanee, striker Dan Holman, hovering and hoping for a mistake.

Stefan Payne was on target for Dover against Woking

Dover had a great chance to open the scoring from the penalty spot in the third minute after winger Toby Ajala was bundled over.

Nicky Deverdics, who scored two penalties in the 5-2 win at Eastleigh on tuesday, had no joy this time, seeing Jake Cole save his effort.

But the disappointment of seeing the opportunity missed was short-lived - Deverdics saw to that just29 seconds later.

His pass sent Payne clear and the striker slotted past Cole.

Dover left-back Aswad Thomas, once of Woking, posed the next threat, firing a cross across the eight-yard box in the ninth minute which just evaded the on-rushing Ajala.

Whites were doing all the pressing at this stage and Deverdics fired a 25-yard free-kick just over the bar.

The pressure came to nothing before Woking forced a couple of corners which were easily cleared.

Holman then tried his luck from distance but the shot from the Colchester United man sailed well over Walker's goal.

Dover threatened again when Liam Bellamy went on a surging run which ended with the midfielder firing just wide 10 minutes before half-time.

The half ended with Ricky Miller forcing a good save from Cole from a free-kick after Ajala had been brought down just outside the box.

Richard Orlu had the first opportunity of the second half for Dover and it needed a great save from Cole to turn his 35 yarder over five minutes in.

Cole denied Dover again a minute later, tipping Miller's header from Deverdics' free-kick over.

Ajala saw an audacious 40-yard effort have Cole worried for a while before it went just over.

Woking then enjoyed their best spell of the match but failed to capitalise on it - Dover made them pay.

Substitute Duane Ofori-Acheampong found Payne and the striker fired past Cole in the 76th minute to secure the three points and a third consecutive win against the Surrey side.

Dover: Walker, Magri, Raggett, Orlu, Grimes, Thomas, Bellamy (Murphy 55mins) Deverdics, Ajala (Diallo 81mins), Payne, Miller (Ofori-Acheampong 69mins). Subs not used: Rafferty, Gibbs.

Attendance: 864.
