DOVER’S Indian sign over their local rivals continued on Tuesday night as they booked their place in the quarter-finals of the Dr Martens League Cup.

A trip to league leaders and current cup holders Crawley now awaits the Whites.

Goals from Craig Cloke and Issy Amadi, making a rare appearance, saw them clinch victory which their second half performance deserved after they were indebted to goalkeeper Dave Wietecha for keeping them in the tie in the first period.

The keeper, making his home debut after an injury-plagued 12 months, pulled off a number of fine saves against his former club.

Dover broke the deadlock in the 51st minute when Cloke fired in from 12 yards for his first senior goal for the club as he reacted well to a defensive clearance.

The second goal came in the 59th minute when a static Folkestone defence allowed Amadi to latch onto a Tony Browne through ball to expertly chip the ball past Tony Kessel in the visitors’ goal.

Though Dover manager Richard Langley has stated that qualification for Conference South is his main priority this term, a continued run in this competition, bringing on the younger members of the squad, could be beneficial to the club in the long term.

Dover: Wietcha, Browne, Davies (Welch), Ball, Cloke, Rogers, Day, Spiller, Wilkins (Skelton), Jones, Carruthers (Amadi).
