16-year-old airlifted to hospital after car catches fire in crash on Thanet Way, near Faversham

A 16-year-old boy has suffered life-threatening injuries after the car he was travelling in caught fire following a crash on the Thanet Way.

The teenager was taken by air ambulance to hospital after the accident near Brenley Corner at Faversham.

Police, ambulance and fire crews arrived at the scene on the Londonbound carriageway just before 1.30am.

The car had smashed into the central reservation before catching fire.

The boy was airlifted to the William Harvey Hospital with serious injuries, which the police say are life-threatening.

An investigation into the crash has been launched.
