Cancer patient Maclom Foster asks for driver to come forward after crash in Hernhill

A cancer sufferer is appealing for information after his car was written off by an unknown driver.

While 63-year-old Malcolm Foster slept, Friday the 13th lived up to its name after someone rammed into his car outside his house in Hernhill and drove off into the night without leaving their details.

This has forced Mr Foster to use public transport to travel to important hospital appointments where he is being treated for prostate cancer.

He has also had to temporarily stop his job delivering meals on wheels for Age UK.

The car headlights were smashed and the bonnet twisted.

His insurance company says the vehicle, a Citroen C1 Rhythm, will be a write-off.

The grandfather will also have to pay at least £100 to have the car taken away and will lose his no claims bonus, inflating his insurance.

Mr Foster, of Crockham Lane, hopes the driver may come forward if they see how much this has affected his life.

He said: “I had been in hospital for the last few days and noticed the damage on Saturday morning. I hope this driver will come forward when they see what a nuisance this is for me, both with my health and my job.

“They obviously didn’t realise when they drove into my car how much I need it and how much I rely on it.

“One moment of selfishness has messed me up big time.”

The car was parked opposite the Red Lion pub in Hernhill, where Mr Foster has parked it for the last two years.

The incident is believed to have happened during Friday evening.
