Lorry fire on M2 near Brenley Corner causes congestion between Faversham and Sittingbourne

There were delays on the M2 this morning after a lorry caught fire between Faversham and Sittingbourne.

Firefighters was called to a blaze in the cab of the vehicle on the London-bound carriageway between junctions 6 and 5.

Crew wearing breathing apparatus put the fire out using a hose reel. There were no reports of any injuries. They left the scene at around 8am.

But congestion built up as traffic on both sides of the carriageway as drivers slowed down approaching the scene causing long tailbacks.
