At first glance, it appears a burglar has been busted breaking into this house in Faversham.

But the mystery of this Google Street View image has been solved after the would-be thief was unmasked as someone a little more innocent.

The photo – taken in Ospringe Road – had been posted on Google Street View World, a website highlighting "interesting and funny" things captured on the roving cameras.

It was labelled with the tags "crime, girl, lady, thief", but sinister motives have been quickly laughed off.

Maria Cecchi, whose daughter Jane Bassett owns the house, said: "We saw this picture awhile ago and recognised the girl as the daughter of the previous owner.

"She must have forgotten her keys or something. She's definitely not breaking in, although it is quite funny."
