National Highways says drivers can expect severe delays of up to 90 minutes, with queues stretching right back towards Junction 5 at Sittingbourne.

Three fire engines were sent to the scene, and crews helped one person from a car. They were then passed into the care of SECAmb paramedics.

A crash that resulted in a huge fuel spillage means the route is likely to remain shut into the early hours for resurfacing.
