German shepherd rescued from hole in Faversham by fire crew

A German shepherd has been rescued by firefighters after falling down a 6ft hole.

Emergency crews were called to the pooch's aid in Whiting Crescent in Faversham just before midday today.

Crews used a short extension ladder and specialist animal rescue equipment to get down the hole and reach the dog, called Ruby.

She was then lifted to safety and back into the care of her owners.

A tweet by Kent Fire and Rescue Service said: "Crews came to the rescue after Ruby's owners realised they could not safely rescue her, and used specialist rescue equipment to access and carry her back onto level ground."
