A HEAD-ON collision in Faversham on Tuesday morning left two people injured and fuelled calls for a further reduction in speed limits on the A2.

Fire crews were called to the scene around 7am, and used hydraulic cutting gear to free the drivers, a man and a woman, who were in collision outside Boughton Field Cottages at Tin Bridge.

Both were taken to Ashford's William Harvey Hospital but their injuries are not life threatening.

The Joint Transportation Board recently agreed to reduce the speed limit from 60mph to 50mph from Love Lane to Brenley Corner, covering the location of the crash, and from 40mph to 30mph from Preston Grove to Love Lane.

The new signs have not yet been put up, but local residents are now calling for the speed limits to be dropped even further.
