The mother of a former Faversham woman who was killed in London has spoken of her shock.

Penny Mazzocchi, 38, died on July 30 in Archway. The man who shared her flat has been charged with murder.

Her mother Alice Mazzocchi, 74, who lives in St John’s Road, Faversham, said: “It doesn’t seem real.

“It’s a very stressful time and it’s still going on.”

Penny’s 15-year-old son Alex Esmail stayed with Alice during the school holidays.

It was Alex who raised the alarm when he could not get into the family’s flat.

Alex said: “I was there when they brought her out. It’s difficult but I take things day by day.”
