Probe after Tesco Superstore in Faversham after burglary

Suspected thieves smashed into a supermarket in an overnight raid and made a getaway.

Part of the Tesco Superstore in Crescent Road, Faversham, has been taped off by police following a break-in overnight.

Pictures taken at the scene this morning show a smashed near bicycle racks behind a police cordon.

Police confirmed officers were called shortly after 4.30am to a report of a burglary.

“Inquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident,” a spokesman said.

“No arrests have yet been made.”

Meanwhile, a spokesman for Tesco says it is assisting police with the investigation.

“Our Faversham Superstore is open as normal this morning following a break-in,” he said.

It is currently unknown whether items were taken.
