Ra ra! Youngsters can join cheerleading workshop

Pom poms will be to the fore when a week-long cheerleading workshop for youngsters is held.

Teacher Emily Rosen set up Daydream Creative Workshops in response to what she felt was a lack of creative activity centres for children in the area.

Out of that came Half Term Hoot, which offers play sessions for youngsters aged from five to 13 every morning during the half-term holidays.

Emily has now enlisted the help of qualified cheerleading coaches to provide afternoon coaching.

A free taster session ahead of the week-long course in February attracted a lot of interest.

“We’re calling it the Daydream Cheer Academy,” said Emily, 26, who is a supply teacher.

“The cheerleading will run alongside the Half Term Hoot playscheme which is all about having fun, making friends, and getting the most out of arts and crafts.”

Half Term Hoot will run from February 16 to 20, in St Andrew’s Hall, Grimshill Road, Whitstable. The morning play sessions, open to children aged five to 13, cost £7.50 per day and run from 8.30am to 12.30pm.

The cheerleading sessions, open to seven to 16-year-olds, will run from 1pm to 3pm at a cost of £30 for the week.
