Sir Bob Geldof’s autographed guitar is one of many items to go under the hammer this weekend to raise money for refugees.

The Live Aid star, who lives in Davington, donated the instrument to the Faversham and Villages Refugee Solidarity Group, which is hosting the auction on Saturday night.

The Auction of Promises is in aid of a number of charities working alongside refugees across the world.

Bidders will have the opportunity to get their hands on more than 50 items, including a lunch at Reads restaurant, a private piano recital, pottery lessons, jewellery and art work.

The event takes place at the Assembly Rooms in Preston Street from 7pm and has almost sold out of tickets.

Well-know auctioneer Peter Colmer will be entertaining the audience with a combination of piano and gavel skills.

Deputy mayor Trevor Abram will also be attending.
