Search for missing man John Macklin, from Eastling near Faversham, reaches a month as police continue efforts to find him

Police are continuing their widespread search for a missing man last seen a month ago today.

Officers and volunteers have scoured woodland, fields and been spotted with canoes as they try to find clues as to the whereabouts of John Macklin.

His home village of Eastling, outside Faversham, has been searched along with the nearby Sheldwich.

About 30 officers were seen combing the countryside in Eastling earlier this month.

This came a week after a large-scale operation was launched 13 miles away in Ashford. Kent Search and Rescue teams were in Dobbies car park at the town's Eureka Park on October 3.

Today marks a month since Mr Macklin was reported missing.

The force has been asked for updates on the search, but only provided a repeated appeal for public assistance.

A spokesman said: "Officers are continuing to appeal for information to help locate a missing man from the Faversham area.

"John Macklin was reported missing on the morning of Monday, September 26 from Eastling.

"The 43-year-old was last seen wearing a grey hooded top, dark blue jeans, a pair of black Nike trainers and a navy blue waterproof jacket.

"He is also believed to have links to Chatham and Snodland.

"As part of work to identify further lines of inquiry, officers are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen and spoken to John at the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford on Friday, September 23 – three days before he was reported missing to police."

However, he is yet to be found.

Mr Macklin was last seen wearing a grey hooded top, dark blue jeans, black Nike trainers and a navy blue waterproof jacket.

Chief inspector Mark Hedges said: “We are concerned for his welfare and are urging anybody who sees him or knows of his whereabouts to contact us.”

Anyone with information about his whereabouts are urged to call Kent Police on 101 quoting 26-0269.
