Swedish singer-songwriter Axel Jansson will be playing a one-off charity gig in town after a Faversham schoolboy appeared in his latest music video.

Budding actor Harry Gates, 12, featured in the musician’s video for Wanna Know You.

The Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School pupil was picked by Axel’s team, who approached the talent agency to which Harry belongs.

Axel Jansson's gig will raise money for three charities (15157194)

Axel, described as an “enviable pop-rock songwriter” by Songwriting Magazine, spent much of last summer touring the festivals, which included two sets at Glastonbury.

Now, Saxon Shore estate agents and Creekside Vinyl have joined forces to host a concert on the eve of the Hop Festival on Friday, August 30.

Axel and his band will perform at the Alexander Centre from 8pm, raising funds for the Creek Trust, Faversham Community Christmas Lights and bereavement charity Holding On Letting Go.

Liz Jeffrey, who runs Saxon Shore with her brother Richard Gates, said: “We are very proud to support a number of local charities and we sincerely hope Axel Jansson’s gig will raise a great deal of money for some very worthwhile causes.

“Saxon Shore is a Faversham family business and it was a family connection that helped Axel agree to perform - Richard’s son Harry appears in Axel’s latest music video.

“Harry is a talented young actor and has already appeared in several stage show, short films and music videos.”

Tickets cost £6 each in advance via Facebook or Eventbrite, or on the door.

Creekside Vinyl owner Simon Tyler added: “We love the Hop Festival which celebrates music and also the amazing town which is Faversham. So we’re delighted to be working with Saxon Shore to bring this very talented artist to Faversham to kick off everyone’s Hop Festival.”
