Police and forensics called after body found in woodland in Wildish Road, Faversham

The body of a man in his 30s has been found in woodland in Faversham.

Several police cars, ambulances and forensics vans swarmed to Wildish Road following the discovery.

Officers taped off the entrance to woods and a policewoman was seen standing guard.

Police say they are not treating the death as suspicious.

Neighbours have spoken of their shock.

A woman who lives in Wildish Road and does not wish to be named said: "A man said he had seen a body in the woods.

"I went into the woods and thought it was just a mattress.

"We have no idea how long he had been there for and just so glad it wasn't kids who found him.

"It was really shocking and I'm just glad my son wasn't here to see it. He's at football practice.

"It's really scary. With the stabbing round the corner a couple weeks ago, it's just horrible.

"There's so many kids running around here and it's a worry for parents.

"For this to happen on our doorstep is just awful. It is getting terrible round here."

Police spokesman Richard Allen said officers were called at 4.30pm about concerns for the welfare of a man in some woods in Faversham.

He added: "Police are at the scene and are investigating."
