Faversham manager James Collins has pulled off another big transfer coup, signing former Football League striker Paul Hayes.

Hayes is the second ex-Championship player to join Town in as many months, with the Lilywhites also having brought in former Cardiff midfielder Solomon Taiwo recently.

The 36-year-old, who counts Charlton, Scunthorpe, Wycombe, Preston and Barnsley among his former clubs, goes into Town's squad for tonight’s match at home to Dover in the Kent Senior Cup.

He netted 11 goals in 33 appearances last season as AFC Sudbury finished eighth in the Isthmian League North.

"I had a good chat with Paul and his attitude is great. He fell out of love with the game a little and wants to get that back," Collins told Faversham's website.

"I’m a Charlton Athletic fan and I, obviously, used to watch him play. He has quality and knows where the goal is.

"Paul’s record speaks for itself.

"He brings with him a professionalism, off the pitch as well as on it in terms of how he does things, and that is important around a group of young players keen to learn.

"It’s a statement of our intent as a club that we want to progress."

Most recently, Hayes had been playing for Meridian VP in Southern Counties East League's First Division.
