Faversham Town manager Ray Turner backed his team to bounce back after being 'beaten up' by Maidstone as the Lilywhites’ pre-season got off to a slow start.

Town started their season with a confidence-boosting stalemate against a Millwall XI at Salters Lane on Saturday but suffered a 4-0 defeat against the Stones on Tuesday night with Turner questioning the commitment of his players.

He said: “It was a complete difference between the two games. We comfortably held our own on Saturday and had the better chances to win it. It was pretty much the complete opposite on Tuesday. We got beaten up all over the pitch.

“Maidstone are strong but we got found out. We were lacking in all areas. Unfortunately, including commitment. We were missing some experience, though and we’ll need that when we play Dover (at Crabble on Tuesday night).”

Skipper John Scarborough, Darren Marsden and Dave Botterill could return for the trip to the Conference Premier newcomers.
