Here's why armed police were called to Marine Terrace in Folkestone near Grand Burstin Hotel

A man has been arrested after armed police were called to reports that someone had been threatened with a weapon.

Officers descended on Marine Terrace, Folkestone, at around midday yesterday.

It is believed the two men involved knew each other.

Kent Police spokesman Chris Herbert: "Following inquiries, patrols including armed officers attended an address in Marine Terrace where a 66-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident.

"He remains in police custody."
