Army extends world wide radio coverage

PEOPLE across the world are now tuning into British Forces Broadcasting Services radio based at Shorncliffe Barracks in Folkestone.

The station, which has been running for just over a year and employs seven staff, broadcasts 24 hours a day in Nepali and English on 1278 Khz.

In the Folkestone area it is being relayed live by satellite to Gurkhas serving in Bosnia, Sierra Leone and Kosovo and it is now planned to extend coverage using low power transmitters to other army barracks where Gurkhas are serving including Canterbury, Maidstone, Colchester and Sandhurst.
