A thug called Smiler Snutch wasn't smiling when a judge jailed him for four years for blackmail and assault.

The 48-year-old attacked a man in August last year after making accusations against him and demanding money.

Canterbury Crown Court heard how Snutch, of Wear Bay Avenue, Folkestone took his victim to a cashpoint where he withdrew money and was forced to hand it over.

Smiler Snutch has been jailed

The judge, Recorder Paul Taylor, jailed Snutch who admitted assault, theft and blackmail.

He told him: "Blackmail is an ugly and vicious crime. You demanded money from a young man and also beat and punched him.

"I don’t accept you have a great deal of remorse and your victim had significant difficulties and you’ve made them harder by your actions."
