A driver was taken to hospital after his BMW smashed into a motorway crash barrier.

It happened on the London-bound Junction 13 slip road of the M20 at Folkestone at 2am today.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service said that no other vehicles were involved, the man was alone in the car and was not trapped.

South East Coast Ambulance Service said that the victim was assessed by paramedics at the scene and taken to Ashford’s William Harvey Hospital.

He was not thought to have suffered serious injury.
