A French coach driver, who was transporting nearly 50 children from the EU, is due to appear in court following a crash at the Eurotunnel terminal in Folkestone.

It happened just before 12pm, involving a vehicle which was carrying 47 schoolchildren and five of their teachers.

Police were called to the scene following reports that a coach collided with the carriage when leaving the train.

The coach driver, a 37-year-old man from France, is being reported for summons for exceeding daily driving hours, failing to take a daily rest and driving a coach in a condition likely to cause danger to others.

Multiple serious defects were found on board as well and the vehicle was prohibited.
