A 48-hour dispersal order has been put in place in a town after increased reports of anti-social behaviour.

Police have confirmed the order will be in place in Hawkinge from 6pm tonight until 5.59pm on Monday.

The order will cover the whole town, with officers from the force's community safety unit patrolling the area over the two day period.

A similar order was recently put in place in Gillingham, after a number of offences, including shoplifting led to multiple arrests in the Medway town.

Since last week officers have directed more than 20 people – the majority of which were youths – to move on from the town centre.

"The order covers the whole town and officers from our Community Safety Unit will be on patrol in the area."
