Police have closed a dual carriageway in both directions after a series of crashes caused a pile-up.

Officers have attended a number of incidents near the Roundhill Tunnel on the A20 at Folkestone since 8.40am.

A force spokesman said the incident is ongoing and drivers are advised to take alternative routes.

"Officers were called to the scene following a report of a collision involving multiple vehicles at 8.41am.

"Further collisions have been reported in the same area.

"The road has been closed in both directions while work is ongoing on the A20 to clear and treat the road," they said.
