Escaped prisoner in alleged sword incident

POLICE, including firearms officers, were called to Park Farm Road in Folkestone where a man was seen with what appeared to be a sword.

Two men were taken away for questioning after the incident on Monday.

Later Alan Baker, 37, a serving prisoner was charged with escaping from lawful custody, namely Wooton-Under-Edge in Gloucstershire on April 7, possessing cannabis resin and possessing an offensive weapon, namely a samurai sword. He has been

remanded in custody.

A 27-year-old man, from Folkestone, who was also arrested, was released without

charge.
