While most of Kent heeded government advice and stayed at home as the sun shone on the county one council has had to remind people to avoid its beaches.
Folkestone and Hythe took to Facebook to chastise families who had travelled from as far away as Bromley - a round trip of two hours and 20 minutes or 122 miles.
The council said: "This is not a public holiday – it’s a global pandemic.
"It’s disappointing we’ve had to issue a large number of warnings today to those who refused to stay at home without justifiable reason.
"One family travelled from as far as Bromley just to visit the beach.
"The spread of COVID-19 risks the health of our community – friends, family, and key workers such as NHS staff.
"It really is simple: #StayHomeSaveLives."
It comes as 708 more people died and more than 3,700 new cases of Covid-19 were recorded across the UK.
Medical experts and the government have repeatedly warned that the only way we can beat the virus and relax lockdown laws is if we follow social distancing rules -including only to go out if absolutely necessary and to exercise close to home.
