Last night one of Folkestone's best loved venues came to a sad end.

Onyx, known affectionately as The Priz, was engulfed in a huge fire lasting more than eight hours.

The building, originally known as the Marine Gardens Pavilion when it was built in 1926, is in the process of being demolished to make way for Folkestone's seafront redevelopment.

Fire crews were called shortly at 9pm last night and remain at the scene today while an investigation is launched to find out the cause.
