Later that night a man in his 30s was allegedly the victim of an attempted robbery in which his would-be mugger demanded cash while brandishing a knife.

Officers believe the second incident, which happened in an alleyway near Marine Parade at 11.25pm, is linked to the first.

The suspect is described as a white man with short brown hair, who was wearing a grey jumper with an Adidas logo on the front and grey tracksuit bottoms.
