The victim of a knife assault in Folkestone has seen his attacker jailed for four years.

On Friday, June 28, Blake Hindry, of Risborough Lane, Folkestone, was invited into St Michael’s Street house when he started waving around a knife he had just bought.

He was sentenced on Tuesday at Canterbury Crown Court and his jail term included one year for breaching a suspended sentence.

There were a number of people inside who were uncomfortable with Hindry’s behaviour as he talked about how sharp the blade was.

It led to it being taken by one person who hid it from him.

The 25-year-old became angry and searched the premises until he found the weapon and put it in his pocket. He left the house at about 9pm.

A short while later the occupants heard commotion outside and witnessed Hindry punching his victim in the street and warning him of the knife he had in his pocket.

He then held the blade to the man’s neck.

The victim, in his 50s, tried to remove the knife from Hindry’s hand but he was holding it too tightly and struck the victim across the wrist, causing a deep wound.

On Friday, July 5, Hindry was found by police and arrested.

His phone was seized, which contained pictures of the knife he had bought and used during the incident.

He’d also taken a picture of the weapon covered in blood following the assault. Officers found a text message he had sent to someone, gloating about the fact he had "stabbed someone just for fun".

Hindry was picked out during an identification parade and later admitted to the charges of grievous bodily harm and threatening a person with a blade.

Investigating officer, PC Samuel Minichiello, said: "The victim in this case suffered a severe injury to his hand.

"Using a knife as a weapon will never be tolerated and officers at remain committed to tackling knife crime and removing these dangerous weapons from the streets and the hands of people like Hindry."
