A 35-year-old man has been charged with trespass on the railway after being picked up on the line between Dover and Folkestone yesterday morning.

Armando Mofort-Mohammed, of no fixed address, was arrested under the Terrorism Act and questioned by officers after a member of the public reported seeing someone walking along the live rail.

The Spanish national was stopped by police on the stretch between the Abbot's Cliff tunnel and the Shakespeare tunnel which runs parallel to the area known as Samphire Hoe. This was then closed while a full security check was carried out. Nothing was found.

The line reopened at 5.30pm.

Mofort-Mohammed is due to appear at Folkestone magistrates court today.
