A man has been fined after hosting parties at his flat twice in less than two weeks.

The Folkestone resident has been slapped with a total of £600 in penalties after police found him hosting groups of people in his property.

Officers first attended the Military Road address at 11.25pm on Friday and kicked out around 20 people who didn't live there.

The resident was given a £200 fine for breaching government coronavirus restrictions.

However, officers were then called back to the same property in the early hours of yesterday morning following a report of another noisy gathering,

Around 10 people were inside the property and the group were turfed out.

For the second breach, the culprit was issued with a £400 fine, bringing his total liability to £600.

'The virus is still a huge threat to our communities...'

Assistant Chief Constable Claire Nix said: "We continue to respond to the virus in the same way we have since March, using enforcement only as a last resort.

"Blatant and repeated breaches of the rules in this way will result in our officers issuing fixed penalty notices to those responsible.

"'The virus is still a huge threat to our communities and I would encourage everyone to adhere to the national restrictions to keep themselves and others safe."
