Flat fire in Bayle Street in Folkestone sees man rescued and taken to hospital

A man was rescued from a fire and taken to hospital after a blaze broke out in a kitchen.

Crews were called to Bayle Street in Folkestone after a fire began in a third-floor flat at about 7.40pm last night.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus rescued a man and used a high-pressure hose reel jet to extinguish the flames.

The man was taken to hospital by paramedics for a precautionary check after suffering the effects of breathing in smoke.

The cause of the fire has not yet been established.

Firefighters had left the scene by 8.10pm.
