Man attacked in Hawkinge, near Folkestone, as he tried to stop his car being stolen

A man was left injured after he was punched and stamped on when he tried to prevent thieves from stealing his car.

It was reported a group of four men driving a silver or green 4x4 had attempted to tow away a black car before the owner of the vehicle ran out of his house to stop them.

He was then punched and thrown to the floor, before being stamped on several times.

The assailants fled from the scene and abandoned the victim’s car nearby.

The man suffered injuries to his face, ribs and back but has since been discharged from hospital.

Police are appealing for anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage of the incident to call them on 01843 222289, quoting the reference number 46/66919/20, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
