Man suffers heart attack after road crash

AN ELDERLY Kent couple are seriously ill in hospital after a road crash.

They had to be freed from their car following the smash at in Horn Street at Folkestone.

The accident involved a Vauxhall Astra van and a Nissan Micra driven by the elderly man who comes from Hythe.

He suffered a heart attack following the accident and his wife received what could be life-threatening injuries. Both were taken to the William Harvey Hospital at Ashford where their conditions are described as "stable".

Firefighters, who at the scene for two around hours, used cutting gear to free the couple.

The accident happened at around 4.15pm on Friday near to the entrance to St Martin's Primary School. The school has long campaigned for traffic calming measures in the street.
