A man has been taken to hospital following a fire at a house in Folkestone.

Firefighters were called to Marshall Street just before 5pm after the blaze broke out on the ground floor.

Crews used a high-pressure jet to bring the flames under control and needed a positive pressure ventilation fan to clear smoke from the property.

The man was treated for the effects of breathing in smoke before being passed into the care of paramedics.

It is not known yet how the fire started.
