Missing Serena Alexander-Benson, 13, who travelled on Eurotunnel train, found in Poland

A schoolgirl who went missing after she travelled out of the UK through Folkestone has been located in Poland.

Detectives continue to investigate after Serena Alexander-Benson from Wimbledon travelled to eastern Europe with a friend of her mother.

The 13-year-old was last seen by her father leaving their home in London at around 7.50am on Friday (May 25) after she told her father she was going to school, but never arrived.

Serena has been found.

Police enquiries established that Serena left the UK at Folkestone that morning on a Eurotunnel train in a car with a female friend of her mother.

The female is a Polish national who lives in London, while Serena's mother lives in Poland.

Today, officers were advised by the National Crime Agency that the Polish authorities have confirmed that Serena is with her mother in Poland.

Enquires are continuing to establish whether any offences have been committed.

No European Arrest Warrant has been issued.

Wandsworth CID have been investigating the case.
