A woman and her dog were attacked by an American pit bull terrier as they walked along the seafront.

The incident happened at Marine Parade, Folkestone on Sunday when the black dog, which was not on a lead and had no collar, started attacking the woman’s dog before turning on her.

It bit her on the hand before running off.

The attack took place on land that used to be The Rotunda at 6pm.

Just after the attack, the victim spoke to a woman aged in her early 30s who had a Welsh accent and admitted to owning the pit bull.

She was 5ft 4in tall with short brown hair and was wearing a white T-shirt, blue shorts and flip-flops.

She refused to stay and give her details.

PC Leon Blackman from Folkestone Police Station would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident and anyone who knows the woman who owns the pit bull terrier.
