A police car crashed into another vehicle while chasing a suspected drink-driver in Folkestone.

The suspect then crashed into a traffic island before fleeing on foot.

A 34-year-old Folkestone man was arrested at 9.30am on Tuesday, 26 February 2019 on suspicion of dangerous driving. He is currently in police custody.

The chase ensued after officers were alerted to the man in Warren Road just before midday.

The crashes led to multiple patrol cars being called to Wear Bay Road earlier this afternoon, while the police helicopter was seen circling over Folkestone Harbour.

No one is reported to have been injured in either crash.
