Pregnant woman rescued from burning house in Newbury Close, Folkestone

A pregnant woman has been rescued from a burning house by firefighters.

The woman was trapped in a first floor bedroom at her home in Newbury Close, Folkestone, after a fire broke out in the kitchen at about 4pm.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus went into the smoke-filled house and led the woman to safety.

She was treated for smoke inhalation by paramedics while fire was put out with water jets.

It took 20 minutes to extinguish the flames.

A young man managed to escape the blaze but suffered burns to his arms. The couple's pet dog also managed to escape.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this stage.
