Students from across Shepway are celebrating after receiving their A-level results

Hundreds of students across Shepway are receiving their A-level results this morning.

Overall schools throughout the district are pleased with the results students have achieved this year.

The number of students taking up university places in England in September is set to be the highest ever.

Almost 410,000 have taken up places so far - a rise of 3% on last year.

Harvey Grammar School was again proud after students received 100% pass rate across the school.

Around 60% of students received A* to B grades.

Headteacher Scott Norman said: "I am delighted that the hard work and dedication of all our boys and staff has been rewarded with yet another outstanding performance.

"Our results are once again as good as we’ve come to expect.

"We’re delighted for our boys who can now look forward to taking up their hard earned places at the universities they have chosen."

There were outstanding achievements for Daniel Seal, Simon Hulse and Sam Moore.

Daniel gained four A* grades in biology, physics, maths and further maths while also getting an A in chemistry.

Simon, 18, achieved five A* grades in biology, chemistry, physics, maths and further maths and will go on to read Chemistry at Oxford.

He said: "The university gave me an offer that I needed to get one A* and two As to enter.

"I was quite optimistic of making that but I was extremely surprised to get A*s in all my five A levels."

Sam picked up an incredible eight A-levels including A* in biology, general studies, maths and five A grades in geography, physics, government and politics, chemistry and further maths.

Ben Palmer, 18, got an A in history, a B in psychology, a B in general studies and a C in biology.

"I did well enough to to get to my first choice university, University of Bath to read social science so I am thrilled.

"The exams were not easy. I worked my hardest over the exam period. I don't think I could have worked any harder. I did the best I could. I didn't struggle but it was definitely a challenge.

"I was revising since our mock exams in February. I simply continued the revision from those exams and around April I really started to knuckle down."

Students and staff from Brockhill Park in Hythe announced they were "celebrating outstanding results" with 30% A* and A grades.

A record number of students from Folkestone Academy will be taking up places at university.

All of the 56 going next term will be attending their first choice after an "outstanding" set of results.

Lauren Clifton achieved A* grades in English literature, culture and communication as well as A grades in biology and AS-level French.

Jessica Pratt will start at Reading University to read Maths following her A in A-level maths alongside BTEC distinction grades in law, business and ICT.

Marita Mathew has been accepted at Kingston University to read Pharmacy after getting BTEC distinction grades in Science, Health & Social Care and ICT

Jack Brady achieved BTEC distinction grades in law, business and ICT and has been accepted at the University of Kent to read Law.

Pent Valley College is celebrating "spectacular results" with over half of students achieving grades to go on to study first degree courses at university.

The school announced it has "exceeded Ofsted's Sixth Form minimum achievement expectations" with nearly 90% of pupils achieving A* to D grades.
