Suspected migrants rescued off of the Warren and East Cliff in Folkestone

Members of a group of suspected migrants have developed hypothermia after rescue crews descended on Folkestone this morning.

An eyewitness reported seeing people being helped up from the Warren walking towards the Bowls Club, adding some of them appeared injured.

Six men have been identified as Iranian nationals.

A police spokeman said: "Police was called at 7.16am on Friday, October 26 following reports of suspected migrants at The Warren in Folkestone.

"Officers are in attendance and have located six men.

"SECAMB and Border Force are also in attendance."

Police cars and ambulance crews were spotted at the scene in the Warren and East Cliff area.

The Home Office press office said: "Border Force was contacted by Kent Police this morning, Friday 26 October, after police officers attended an incident in the Warren area of Folkestone.

"Six men who presented themselves as Iranian nationals have been transferred to Immigration Enforcement.

"All of their cases will be dealt with in line with the immigration rules."

SECAmb ambulance spokesman Brian Cumming said: "At 07.57 today we sent a car and ambulance to assess six patients at the Warren, Folkestone.

"They were wet and cold and three were treated on scene for hypothermia.

"None were taken to hospital."

The onlooker said that officers went back down to the Warren to check the area.

One officer was reportedly carrying a couple of life jackets while escorting the men, and life jackets were seen floating in the sea.
