Two people have been arrested following a double stabbing.

Kent Police were called at around 8pm yesterday to a report of two groups of people causing a disturbance in a car park in Middelburg Square, Folkestone.

A spokesman said: "Two teenage boys were treated at the scene for injuries consistent with stab wounds and have been taken to hospital where they both remain in a stable condition.

"Two boys from Ramsgate, aged 14 and 15, have been arrested in connection with the assault and remain in custody while inquiries at the scene continue.

"It is believed that the victims and the suspects are known to each other."

Neighbour Steven Liddle said: "There was a forensics van at the entrance slip road to the car park last night and the area was taped off.

"There were also four police vehicles at the other side of the square.

"The very fact that there were forensics officers there made me realise something very serious had happened."

A woman neighbour, who did not want to be named, said: "It is really scary especially when you have children."

The Middelburg Square area no longer had police at the scene this morning except for one locally-based woman officer who was on foot patrol to provide reassurance to residents and maintain a police presence.

But five minutes' walk away our reporter found three PCSOs guarding a sealed off area.

This was at Cheriton Road, between Brockman Road and Ingles Road and the entire parade of shops on that stretch was closed,

It is thought this is related to the incident.

Anyone who witnessed the assault at Middelburg Square or has any information regarding it should call Kent Police.
