Armed Forces Day one of several events happening in Folkestone and Hythe this weekend but there's loads more on

There are plenty of things going on in our area this weekend.

Here’s a round up of what events you could take the family along to.

Celebrations in honour of the armed forces will take place tomorrow (Saturday) along The Leas to mark Armed Forces Day.

Cadets being put through their paces at last year's Armed Forces Day. They will be back this year.

The annual tribute recognises and praises the work of the UK’s armed forces past, present and future.

Live performances on the bandstand and static displays will take place from noon throughout the afternoon.

The Shorncliffe Military Wives Choir and The Tigers – the Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment parachute team based in Canterbury – will join cadet bands from the Army, Air and Sea Cadets.

Vintage car rides, spectacular gardens and views across Hythe are on offer this Sunday at Saltwood Church.

The day is being hosted by the church from noon to 4pm to help raise funds to save the building’s tower which is in desperate need of repair.

There will be eight gardens open along with an owl display and opportunities to climb the tower and ring the bells as well as hot food provided by restaurant Saltwood on the Green.

Batman will be guest of honour at a boot fair and family fun morning raising money for charity in Folkestone on Saturday.

The event at Christ Church Primary School in Brockman Road, from 9am to 1pm will support Devlin’s Babies, a charity that helps families who have lost stillborn babies or babies in the first few days of their lives.

They help cover funeral costs and headstones and is currently trying to build a memorial garden where families can go.

Pitches cost £10 for cars and £15 for vans and there will be refreshments, face painting and a bouncy castle.

The annual blessing of the fisheries service will be held in Folkestone harbour on Sunday afternoon.

The procession starts at 2.45pm and is expected to last for an hour.

It will start at St Peter's Church in The Durlocks above the harbour and wind its way down to the harbour where a short service will take place to bless the fish, fishermen, associated trades, services and protectors.

The procession will be led back to the church following the service.
