An appeal for witnesses has been launched weeks after a teen's tributes were vandalised in a park.

Luhana Barros, also known as Luna, jumped from the Asda multi-storey building at the Bouverie Place shopping centre in Folkestone in June this year.

An inquest in October heard that she committed suicide.

Luna was a popular student at Brockhill Park Performing Arts College

In an outpouring of grief, countless bouquets of flowers were placed outside the shopping centre and at Lower Radnor Park, where the latest round of tributes were laid on Sunday, December 11.

Luna would have been 17 on that day and her family arranged a gathering for all of her friends at the playground, where a memorial bench was unveiled.

Just a day later, popped balloons, broken glass and smashed pottery was left strewn over the ground in an act that was described as “sad” by her family.

Now Kent Police is investigating a report of criminal damage to the tributes.

It is reported to have taken place between Sunday, December 11 at 5pm to Monday, December 12 at 5.12pm.

Investigating officer det sgt Maxine Harris said: "The family of the teenager is already devastated and this deliberate and thoughtless act is extremely upsetting for them.

"These tributes were laid to remember what would have been her birthday.

"Officers would like to hear from anyone who saw or heard anything."

Luna's uncle Junior Rocha said: "As a family we loved our child and we feel sorry for the other children, they sit on the bench and reflect about their lives, it is so sad.

“We can’t blame anyone we just want to get on with our lives.”
