Woman rescued from sea at Folkestone

A woman has been rescued from the sea off Folkestone.

Concerns were raised after she was spotted in the water at around 3am.

Emergency services including police, ambulance crews and a lifeboat from Littlestone were called to the scene.

The coastguard helicopter was also scrambled from Lydd.

The woman was pulled from the sea and passed to medical teams.

A police spokesman said: "Kent Police received a report of concern for welfare of a woman in the sea at 3.13am on Wednesday 27 July.

"Officers together with coastguard teams and the search and rescue helicopter attended the scene near Marine Parade in Folkestone and carried out a search.

"The woman was located and passed to healthcare professionals."

It comes less than 48 hours after another a distressed swimmer was rescued from the water in the same area.
