Neil Cugley says Folkestone Invicta’s final pre-season run-out against AFC Hornchurch on Saturday presents an ideal test a week before the new Ryman League, Division 1 South season begins.

However, he won’t able to field his intended line-up in the opening-day trip to Three Bridges, as Paul Booth and Frankie Chappell are both unavailable to face the Premier Division side from Essex.

Cugley said: “It will be a hard game but with those two missing, it will still keep people guessing as to who will start.”

Ian Draycott continued his impressive pre-season scoring burst with four more, including a five minute hat-trick, as Invicta won 7-1 at Deal on Tuesday night.

Invicta included new signing Jon Pilbeam from Tunbridge Wells in the side at the Charles Ground.

Meanwhile Cugley expects the future of absent midfielder Phil Stevenson to be discussed at a board meeting later this week.

He said: “We offered him terms but he has not come back in pre-season.”

The game against Hornchurch kicks off at 3pm.
