Folkestone Invicta’s promotion credentials face a stern test this weekend when they make the short trip to face leaders Faversham.

The clubs are separated by 25 miles and seven points, with the Lilywhites riding high at the top of Ryman League Division 1 South.

Folkestone boss Neil Cugley hasn’t been surprised by Faversham’s flying start and knows his team will have to be at their best at Salters Lane, where Town have taken 25 of a possible 30 points so far this season.

He said: "They’re a good side and it’s a good club, a well-run club. They’ve got good people running the club, managing and coaching and good people behind the scenes.

"They’re a bit like us. They get on with it, they don’t throw loads of money at things but they pick a player each year and they get stronger.

"They’re always going to be there or thereabouts. They didn’t quite make the play-offs last year but they did the year before.

"They’re a side that does well in heavy weather because they’re big and strong.

"It’s a good time to be top because when winter comes, they’ll do well."
